Dyed treasure
This is my son intently playing with some items he found in the yard at his Granny's house. You can't tell it here, but his right hand is lifted with a wooden stick that he was using to crush petals from a flower. My older daughter had done the same and he was imitating her. I love the imagination of a child. The simplicity of a "toy" found in nature. I immediately envisioned a life very different from my own. I was on a prairie with an apron over a long billowy skirt. Despite the hardships of life, I somehow had the time and ability to not only make clothing and food from scratch, but to make dyes and inks from flowers.
